1812 marked the birth of Fives and the creation of the Société Anonyme des Anciens Etablissements Cail.
From the beginning, the company specialized in manufacturing equipment for the sugar industry.
Under the reign of Napoleon III, the activity experienced impressive growth moving towards building of sugar plants. Its adventure abroad was a real success.
Thereafter, the company Fives-Lille forged a strong and long experience throughout the 3 industrial revolutions that marked its history. From technique to systems automation through new technologies, the company constantly changed and was transformed into an industrial group in 1958 with the merger of two companies Fives-Lille and Cail which gave birth to Fives-Lille Cail.
At the heart of globalization, Fives Cail continued its international expansion and enhanced its activity by the creation in 1997 of a Joint Venture with KCP, its licensee in India for 25 years, and the acquisition in 2001 of its English competitor Fletcher Smith which brought its complementary expertise of over 150 years and allowed it to penetrate new territories.
