New contract award from SOMDIAA for mill rehabilitation at CST, Chad
In June 2015, SOMDIAA confirmed its trust in Fives' solutions and awarded Fives Cail with a 10th contract for mill rehabilitation program. SOMDIAA’s final goal is to increase the capacity of its CST sugar factory in Chad by 25%; to meet this challenge, Fives offered a packaged solution to efficiently and sustainably improve the performance of 2 mills.
Based on its perfect knowledge and understanding of the site constraints, Fives will perform all the works onsite during the out-of-crop season, with all the necessary goods, tools and machines in-house designed. SOMDIAA’s teams will be fully involved in this project with the help of a supervisor from Fives.
After completion of the works in September 2016:
- The maintenance will be optimized
Operation of the revamped mill will be smoother, thus limiting the energy losses and avoiding premature mechanical failure.
- The performance will be boosted
Cane throughput will be increased and extraction improved, thanks to Fives’ pioneering solutions- surfacing is performed with self-hardening stainless steel and the design of the joint between upper and lower frame will be enhanced. The frames will also be securely anchored to the ground with new high tensile foundations bolts. The latest design of self-alignment bearings with outstanding sealing will be installed on cylinder shafts.
Such innovations have contributed to the worldwide success of Fives’ mill rehabilitation program and its +50 mill refurbishments since 2000.
